I really like to start my ideas on all these iOS apps but when it comes to recording and further editing nothing beats a 'bigger daw'. Im a Reason User for quiet some time now and I've never really used one of the other daws aviable.
But very often i be looking for some more modern sounds and plug ins, since reason seems to be kinda dated. Ive heard Logic Pro x has some more 'commercial ready' sounds as stock plug ins, and even the mixer plug ins seem to be really professional.
as im trying to get to the next level music and mixing wise, I really consider buying logic x and leaving reason behind, although im really used to it.
I can't afford to use both and I don't wanna upgrade to reason 11 nor want I buy expensive plug ins to step my sound level up. I will probably miss europa the most.
what are your suggestions?

Logic. You should be able to download Europa as a plug-in from your Propellerheads account and use it in Logic.
Although I am increasingly impressed by Studio One, which you could try for free (and continue to use for free in its Prime version).

If you want the sounds, you can also get MainStage for $30 and use them with Reason, for example.
Logic is great but it's very different. If you're used to building crazy racks and combinators in Reason, you might miss that in Logic.- edited November 2019
A lot of daws offer a free trial version for a month. You might want to try out Ableton and other options, and just go with whatever you find suites you best. I hear a lot of good things about Reaper , which has an unlimited trial period and is only $60. Logic is great too, especially if you like the linear workflow. you're not going to be held back in any of the major daws, as they're all equally capable — it's mostly about what workflow personally fits you best.
I also started on Reason but never could gel with using it as a daw, though I love the instruments, effects and modularity. Definitely planning to upgrade to 11 so I can take advantage of all my racks in my main daws.
It took me a long time to narrow down my favorite environments. Finally settled on Maschine & Ableton—both are just bliss to work with, especially with all the great iOS tools that boost productivity in Ableton . (Touchable Pro, Lemur, etc)

I might gonna miss the rack but most times iam a straight preset guy who tweaks here and there.
yea it works for me but I lacks some serious stuff imho. I hate the piano roll for real.I feel like im stagnating with reason.
i have to admit, a lot of my reason doubt came from complaining internet people who are saying Reason is far behind the standard. Thinking a different workflow and a new enverioment would maybe level up my work in general.

Upgrading Reason and buying Reaper to host VST modules ?
I've used all of them throughout the years. I not sure there is a value better than Logic in terms of instruments, loops, effects, etc. Also, seemless integration with iOS in terms of using iPad as a midi controller (Logic Remote) or plug-in sound source via idam & lightening cable. High five slot games. You can also begin tracks in GB on iOS and open them seemlessy in Logic. For me this is the best ios to Daw workflow.
However, like someone above mentioned it's all about what's comfy for you. Try em all. Also, check Youtube and watch tutorials, seeing others' workflow may also help.

Yes, although Logic has more (including Alchemy). Have you tried Garageband?
I think iOS GarageBand and logic together is a really really good solution.
It is very convenient to start a song in GarageBand on an iPad and then you can seamlessly open it up in logic and continue where you left off. You can even go back-and-forth. Even if you have third party AU plug-ins in logic. Logic renders those to an audio file so you can open up the project on the iPad and then you are working virtually on the same session.
Not sure what genre are you working with. If it's EDM, you might not find logic synthesizers satisfactory. I hear a lot of producers use third-party synthesizers.Actually, I tend to change DAWs often; I find if I stick with anything for too long I start developing bad habits.

These questions are so subjective, and it really does make a difference what a person is trying to accomplish with a given application - BUT - I've owned Logic Pro for less than a week (on a 2019 MacMini i3) and I am ECSTATIC over how well it operates, how easy it is to learn, and how powerful it is. Alchemy alone is worth the price if anyone asked me.
Logic has everything I need in a DAW built in, which wasn't the case for me with some other popular DAWs.
So much you can do in reason you can't do in Logic at the moment, but when Reason drops the au of the Reason Rack it's gonna be a Logic game changer. As far as Logic goes you can't really beat how much you get for $200.00 and all updates are or have been free. But when Reason rack is an au I'll be using it in Logic and Mpc desktop. Even if you just get Reason Intro for $99.00 it still comes with Reason Rack. It's missing a couple things from the full version but it's still worth the 99 bucks imo.

Exactly, and the MPC Expansions packs are really good too. I'm not on an MPC Touch or Live or anything, I'm using an MPC Studio Black since June of 2018 and I'm really impressed at how much I can do without using a mouse or looking at my computer. I used to have an MPC 2000 for almost 10 years so the Studio Black felt right a home for me. I'm looking at getting an MPC Live but workflow on the MPC Studio is closer to using a 2000.

Exactly, and the MPC Expansions packs are really good too. I'm not on an MPC Touch or Live or anything, I'm using an MPC Studio Black since June of 2018 and I'm really impressed at how much I can do without using a mouse or looking at my computer. I used to have an MPC 2000 for almost 10 years so the Studio Black felt right a home for me. I'm looking at getting an MPC Live but workflow on the MPC Studio is closer to using a 2000.

I used to have a Touch but now I'm using Advanced 49, iPad Pro, and when on the go the Launchkey Mini MK3 to control MPC and VIP. Akai has really been stepping it up. They recently opened their VIP and MPC software to most popular controllers so you can pretty much get busy with anything. MPC Studio is definitely the closest to 2000. I have a 2500 xl around here somewhere.
thanks for all the answers. im getting Logic Pro x and sooner or later maybe reason intro for europa and the rack experience, if I ever gonna miss them.

One thing that Logic does NOT do is record the MIDI output from MIDI FX.
So for example if you use the chord or arp MIDI FX, or a third party MIDI FX (like the excellent HY plugins), and want to edit the resulting MIDI pattern. No can do.
Very annoying.
May not matter, depending on what you're trying to do, but just a heads up.
My vote would be for Renoise by the way. Just had an nice 3.2 update, looks spectacular on high definition screens, and can be used with iOS for dumping phrases into.
I've had Logic since version 1.1 and was on the Beta for the original Reason.
They have slightly converged but at heart Logic is a very powerful sequencer and Reason is a rack full of gadgets.
Reason can't compete with logic as a pure sequencer. Reason is all about the rack and half the fun is turning the rack around and twanging cables. ;-) Reason has a lot of cool synths and sound content but logic has an even bigger library I think Some of Logics synths are very powerful and sound great.
The new Reason rack as a VST seems to give you the best of both worlds.
Logic is a proper pro DAW. In can be the heart of a major studio and record multiple channels of audio and it can also be a pure MIDI and virtual instrument studio and everything in between.
It's also open to the wide world of third party plugins. Reason is more of a closed shop.
I love Reason but it's not the same thing at all. It has added more and more features to the sequencer but as I said before, as a sequencer it doesn't compare.

I've got Logic, Reason and Ableton. If I'd bought Ableton first, I wouldn't have bothered with the other two.
I had the lite version and it never clicked, but once I had the full fat thing, I put more effort into learning how to use it, and was then off and running.
For transferring the beginnings of a track from the iPad, structuring it into a song quickly and overdubbing I find it peerless.
Logic sounds great, but I find the UI awkward. Reason, I used a lot, but things like MIDI routing were overly complicated. Live just ticked all the boxes for me.

im not into MIDI like this, maybe someday. Renoise I've never heard of, but im not brave enough to give another underdog a chance

The Studio version has tons of content - drum kits, loops, samples etc. I've hardly scratched the surface. Instrument wise, probably not as much as Logic, but what's there is perfectly usable, and the sampler instruments are really good. The FX are excellent, and there's a lot of MIDI stuff too - arps, drum sequencers, then you've got Max for Live that adds another level to things. Wiki has a nice overview of what it includes:
For me, the big draw is being able to jam together a song out of blocks of audio dragged from iPad jams and MIDI via the Session view, and then 'print' it to the Arrangement view where I can tweak it further, record live guitar on top etc. And of course if you wanted to make a new arrangement, you can do that all over again and save it as a new mix.
With a Mac, I can also control it via the iPad, or record straight in without loss of quality.
It's funny really because I didn't get it at first, when I had the Lite version. Once it clicked, I was off. I don't regret buying Reason, as I made a ton of tracks with it, but Logic never clicked with me.
We all have different requirements and preferences though, so what works for me might not work for you. And it does help if you have a few VST's already.
